Camila Pazos from Uruquay, graduated in 2026 with a final grade of 1.0 (Excellent) - Industrial Operations and Supply Networks

Why did you choose the MBA&E program at HTW Berlin?

When planning my master's degree, I was looking for a program that would allow me to explore in greater depth the topics I had been working on as a Process Improvement Consultant in my home country. While searching for a degree that included Lean Management, I came across the MBA&E program, and it checked all the boxes. It was taught in English, offered a strong combination of managerial and technical subjects, followed a hands-on learning approach, and had small class sizes. The location was also a major factor—Berlin's international and vibrant atmosphere made the final decision an easy one.

What makes the program special in your opinion?

For me, the most distinctive aspect of the program is the combination of technical and managerial subjects, together with its international environment. Learning alongside classmates from different countries and professional backgrounds adds a valuable perspective to every discussion. I would also highlight the excellent faculty and program administration, who are always approachable and quick to provide support whenever needed.

How has the program influenced your career and personal development?

The program pushed me out of my comfort zone and challenged me in many ways—living far from home, studying in a different language, and collaborating with people from all over the world. It also encouraged me to explore topics that I had not initially expected to enjoy, such as finance and innovation management. Overall, it has had a very positive impact on both my professional and personal development, helping me strengthen my management, communication, and intercultural skills.

What advice would you give to future students?

Make the most of the experience and remember what a unique opportunity it is to study in Berlin. Enjoy both the university and the city to the fullest. I would also highly recommend taking advantage of the additional opportunities the program offers, such as company visits, networking events, and German language courses. These experiences can be just as valuable as what you learn in the classroom.

What are your most memorable moments from your studies at HTW Berlin?

There are so many that it is difficult to choose! If I had to mention just three, they would be:

  1. The MBA&E parties, where students from different specializations and professors came together in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
  2. The final team presentations in most subjects, when months of hard work came together and it was finally time to showcase the results and celebrate the achievement.
  3. My thesis colloquium, where my family and friends from Uruguay were able to join online and share that important moment with me and my supervisors. Their presence made the experience truly special and unforgettable.

Tichele Solis from Belize, graduated in 2024 - Interdisciplinary Management

  • Why did you choose MBA&E study program at HTW Berlin?  I always knew I wanted a career in a STEM field. Becoming a Civil Engineer is an accomplishment I will always cherish, just as I will always be fascinated with Structural Engineering. However, I could not deny that I was also as intrigued with the management side of a project as I was with its technical aspects. To have the best of both worlds, I decided I wanted to be the bridge between the business and technical domains. To do this, I needed to close my educational gaps and give myself a fighting chance to succeed. A combination programme like the MBA&E is exactly what I was looking for: a chance to understand the function of business administration within a technical scope.
  • What do you think this study programme is special about? Using real-world and current examples to convey the teachings of the lesson is what makes the MBA&E program so remarkable. The transition from student to full-time worker is not without challenges, but having the opportunity to learn as if we are already functioning within the current job market gave me an early start in determining how I can navigate this new job market as a new graduate. From finance, organizational management, simulation projects, and everything in between, this programme, in my opinion, balanced the need for theoretical and practical learning.
  • How does this study benefit your career and your life? The possibility of choosing an internship before completing the programme literally paved the way for my career today.
  • What would you like to recommend the students on their way? Take advantage of the time you have with your professors. Gain as much knowledge and insight as possible while you have continuous access to them. Their expertise beyond the classroom could be the key to launching you into a vast pool of possibilities.
  • What memories do you have of your studies at HTW Berlin? Anyone who meets me knows I will never pass up an opportunity to talk about my country, Belize; both inside and outside the classroom. Coming from a small country, a Central American and Caribbean nation, I always have a flag, country map, list of holiday recommendations, and funny puns – “You Better Belize It” – ready to share. Most people have never heard of Belize, but sometimes I will meet someone who has, and I cannot help but smile. Rarely, but it has happened, I have met people who have visited my country, and I have had the chance to listen to their experiences – unforgettable.

  • What do you think this study program is special about?  Why is the MBA&E so special to me? Because it offers a degree of diversity and interdisciplinary, which I discovered to be unique in German engineering study programs.

  • What would you like to recommend to the students on their way? Collaboration is the key! Make friends, enjoy yourself and the time in the program! And help each other out, because we are stronger together.

  • Why did you choose MBA&E study program at HTW Berlin? I always wanted to study an MBA as a compliment to being a Civil Engineer, since my development in this area had mostly been in Project and Real Estate Management. The intercultural aspect of the programme, added to the fact that this was an MBA focused on the engineering side, felt perfect for me. I also wanted to explore new opportunities in the job market that would compliment my existing experience.
  • What do you think this study programme is special about? In my opinion, the various areas of knowledge that are shared in the programme that especially engineers aren’t too much used to working on, such as finance and organizational culture, are the backbone of what makes this MBA&E stand out. Of course, I have to add the wonderful international aspect of my colleagues and the sharing of experience when solving cases as one of the greatest assets.
  • What memories do you have of your studies at HTW Berlin? This one is special. Since I began my studies during the pandemic, most of my activities had to be conducted online. At the beginning of the programme I was still in El Salvador on an 8-hour delay relative to Germany. I had to go to class sometimes at 1:00AM and finished at 9:00AM which was obviously an enormous challenge but definitively one that I feel was worth it.  I came to Berlin in April 2021, and even though we wouldn’t see each other in person during class, the group always found a way to make fun gatherings and extracurricular activities, from which I have to say I have made some wonderful friends too.
